Cold

It's 2 degrees celcius. That's cold for this part of the country. It rained most of the day too. Some parts of the country had snow. We rarely get that here. Which is a shame because snow is pretty. Especially from indoors, by a fire, with a cup of hot soup. Ok - there are probably folks sitting in places a lot colder. Like Moscow where it's about minus 10. But it feels flipping cold to me.

Yesterday was World AIDS Day. There were the usual programmes & films on tv marking this. The front page of Yahoo UK had the symbol - the world wrapped in an AIDS ribbon. I checked the American Yahoo page to see what they had (sometimes it's the same, sometimes not). They had two figures (one male, one female) holding candles on one side of the logo and an AIDS ribbon on the other. Underneath it said World AIDS Day. I was curious as to why they felt it necessary to add that. UK Yahoo didn't. Now, is it because Yahoo has a low opinion of the IQ of the average American and thought they wouldn't know what day it was or what the ribbon was for?? Or is it because most Americans genuinely do not know what an AIDS ribbon is?? Is there more recognition of the ribbon over here than over there?? Strange, because, although most countries have lost citizens to AIDS, of all the developed nations the USA is the one that was hardest hit.

Yahoo baffles me sometimes
