Happy Halloween!

I'm celebrating Halloween by watching Pacific Rim and coming off a crappy allergy attack.

If we're true to form, we might get 1 or 2 kids stopping by our house tonight. That's why we only buy a tiny bit of candy. It's not good when we have too much left over.

At least you've got quite a bit to read tonight with the Academy Halloween Invitational. I'll let you get to it.

Friday Evening

Our weekend is in front of us. Came home from work, threw on a load of laundry and gave the doggie a walk. Then my wife and I grabbed a quick burger and went and saw Our Brand Is Crisis. It was great and sadly was exactly like reality in the world today.

Halloween Weekend Ahead

My work week is almost over. It's been a fun one due to being our very first Spirit Week of the year. To cap off the week, tomorrow everyone is supposed to wear costumes (no masks or gore). I love seeing all the crazy costumes worn by the kids and the teachers.

I will be sporting my new '404 Costume Not Found' tee. Definitely a costume I'll be repeating next year.

Planetary Convergence

Yet another celestial occurrence I'm not going to see.

Venus, Mars, and Jupiter close together this week - they've been closing for most of the month, but the cloud has been so thick these past couple of weeks (dense fog as well this morning) that I haven't been able to see it happening.

Mercury should be visible at the same time (though much lower on the horizon).

Another couple of days and it'll all be over.

Ah well. Such is life.

See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Rain

You could almost believe Shakespeare had never seen rain when you read lines such as The quality of mercy is not strain'd,It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven and then you look out of the window at the monsoon and think "gentle rain?? Hah!!".

We've had torrential rain all day today.

Still is chucking it down.

In spite of the Met Office website informing me that it should now be grey cloud with a precipitation probability of less than 5%.

They need to stick their heads out of the door. Coming down in stair-rods it is.

The ferrets aren't keen on it. They don't mind a little light drizzle, (in fact they enjoy that), but they are definitely not impressed with a torrential downpour. They do not want to come out and play in that.

Mind you, I can't say as I blame them. I'm not overly fond of getting drenched whilst standing in the garden, like a plonker who hasn't the sense to come in out of the rain, either.

Finally Fall

Fairly easy day at work. The kids were home sleeping in during the rainy, foggy day. T & I got home and the rain subsided for a moment so the dog got a good walk, much to his pleasure. Home now, got a nice fire going which will please the cat.

Enjoy your updates.

Peace, Health and Happiness.

Lazy Sunday

We managed to make it to the grocery store. Took the dog on two walks (so far). I did my usual weekly vacuum and floor tidy.

Now I feel like I need a nap. I should probably read instead. I do so want to sleep tonight.

Is it time for bed yet?

It's a mostly kid-free weekend for us. Cal is at his dad's tonight so he and a friend can have some Friday Night Magic fun at the card shop near Mike's apartment. I'll snag him tomorrow afternoon sometime and he'll spend the rest of the weekend with us.

His dad is off shooting a 48 hour horror film this weekend. He loves doing these and they use up every single bit of the allotted 48 hours. He'll make it home sometime on Sunday and be wrung out.

Cal and little e have no school on Monday. I'll envy their sleeping in on that day. Until then, I plan on sleeping in this weekend.

Weekend is Near

Been a long week with lots to do, hence busy. Tired. But tonight we go and listen to Emory play the cello with her new high school orchestra. Than come home and crash.

Hope all is well. Enjoy your update.

Peace, Health and Happiness.

Quiet Night

Tomorrow is the start of Dasara - we wish our Hindu readers a good festival.

Not many updates this evening. That makes a change. That'll give you all time to catch up on the past few days.

European (including UK) readers - remember to set your clocks back an hours this coming weekend. Summer Time ends for us.

See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

On Voting

Tomorrow is the day that Marty McFly is due to arrive, in his future, in the movie Back to the Future II. So... why don't I have a hoverboard??

Speaking of films, I went to see Suffragette at the weekend. There wasn't much in it that I didn't already know, having been a fan of the BBC series Shoulder to Shoulder years ago. But it was a pretty decent movie.

It did, of course, make me annoyed (again) about those people who don't vote. With everything those men and women, who fought for universal suffrage, went through... and then to have people not vote...

And please - I don't want to hear that "If voting changed anything they'd ban it" rubbish. Because having the ability to vote does change things. If you doubt that the go to see the film, see how few rights women had, then read the credits and see what changed after women got the vote...

If you want things to change - do something about it. When there's an election - vote. When there's a referendum - vote. Vote for what you believe in. Because the "other side" certainly will.

Restful Saturday (for Two of Us Anyway)

E and little e aren't back from the Ultimate tournament so you're getting me again on words tonight. Last I heard the Shorecrest Ultimate team did quite well. I haven't heard the outcome of the final game but they did manage to win two out of three. We'll see how they fared with the fourth game.

Cal and I didn't go to a movie today but we did make it to the comic store. We then came home and puttered around the house. Little e wants to see The Martian too.

I'll let you get to reading.

Rest

I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Unfortunately I won't be attending the Ultimate Frisbee tournament that E and little e are going to on Saturday. It's going to be an all day event and I didn't want to leave Cal at home all day. The fact that they're leaving the house by 7:15 didn't factor into my decision at all. No sirree.

So while they're off playing in the rain Cal and I will be making a trip to the comic store. I'm thinking of possibly making him go see a movie with me. Maybe Duncan will even go with us.

Back to Work

I have had all week off with Samantha and now it is time for me to go back to work. At least I only have one day than a crazy filled weekend. Hopefully Sunday will be crash day.

Enjoy your weekend and update.

Spoilt Rotten

That's what my little fuzzballs are - spoilt rotten.

I popped into the pet shop on my way home from work. I needed to by ferret food, and maybe some treats for them.

I had a good look around to see if there were any new toys I could buy them. There weren't. That didn't stop me buying a new crackle tunnel for them though. The old one is getting a bit scruffy. I bought them a new blanket, too, what with winter coming.

And it was the thought of winter - plus the rather nippy nights and early mornings we've been having of late - that cused me to spend more money than intended.

Regular readers might remember that back in the spring I looked at a microwaveable heating pad, designed especially for small animals - rabbits, guinea-pigs, ferrets, etc. It's a solid lump, that you heat in the microwave, then put into a sort of blanket pouch, and then put it into their sleeping compartment under their blankets. It stays warm for up to 10 hours.

Back in the spring I decided not to buy one. Summer was on the way, and ferrets like cooler weather anyway. (They've been much more lively in the mornings recently).

Nevertheless, I looked at the pad again.

And bought one.

Spoilt rotten.

See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Autumnal

Today is the start of Sharada Navaratri - we wish all our Hindu readers a good festival.

It's also the anniversary of the Hijra and consequently the Islamic New Year - we wish all our Muslim readers a Happy New Year.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving in Canada - hope our Canadian readers had a good one.

Daylight hours are reducing. It's flamin' cold at night. The past few mornings have been foggy.

Yep. It really is autumn.
