Grrrr....

I really like getting paid. I don't, however, like updating my checkbook and doing all the budget moving. Actually the budget moving isn't bad but it seems like every two paychecks I screw something up and my records don't match the bank's. It takes me forever to find it. Sometimes I give up and call in the math genius (E) to find it for me. She always does.

Now that the update is done I get to start my search. I'm not optimistic.

Have you ever stopped to wonder if it’s really worth your time to do all the checking, how often have you found a fault in the bank record? After years of checking up on every credit card receipt and bank statement and bitching about it to friends and family every so often, someone asked me what good it did. After some serious thinking all I came up with was an incident where I had gotten myself into a dispute with the bank about a withdrawal that I didn’t remember - that is until the bank supplied me with a number of extra details ….. !

So now I just do a quick run-through of the bank statement once every 1 – 2 month to see if anything catches my eye – usually nothing does.

Take care

Sadly I make so little that I have to keep this darn thing up-to-date. It coincides with the monthly moving of money to "the fund" as E calls it. If I don't actively do this and keep track of what I'm spending I'll go crazy and have no money left. It's best for me to have this little amount of pain so I don't have big pain later.

And so far the fault isn't with the bank, it's with me not writing something down correctly. They're usually spot on. I'm the idiot who can't keep things straight. *g*
