Dangers of Costco

Today a co-worker and I slipped away for a long lunch. One where I drove us down to our local Costco store. Now if you've never been to Costco or a warehouse type store like it, my advice is stay away. They suck money from you without you even noticing. What you hear is your words of "wow, what a great deal".

Did you need 40 of them? Sure it was a good deal and eventually you'll use them all up. Did you need every Bond movie released on to DVDs with their extra goodies thrown in to make the set special? Of course! And where else are you going to get good cheese for $5.99 per pound. Who says I won't eat the whole 8 pound block before it goes bad?

My co-worker bought the Pork tenderloin. Mind you a 4.5 pound one for him and his girlfriend for dinner. I suggested they invite another couple or more to help them out. Of course his more expensive item was the Brita filters. Perhaps it's because they come in the 10 pack, but darn it, it was a good deal when you figure out the per item cost. So $500 dollars later we headed back to work. I dropped him off at his apartment so he could put away all of his items that need refrigeration.

He returned slightly perplexed. He got it all in, however he was thinking the girlfriend was not going to be happy about how he used what little space is in their apartment up with the 60 pack of Top Ramen and the box that actually is 4 boxes of Pop Tarts or his dual box of Honey Nut Cheerios and various other items that needed to be stored on the one counter of the kitchen.

But it was all a good deal. And we did have fun.

So now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Enjoy.
