It isn't any warmer. At least it hasn't snowed this far south-west. They've had snow in London though. First time it's snowed in London in October since 1934. Funnily enough none of the betting shops are still giving odds on a white Christmas. Smart people. That's why bookies go to the Bahamas for their holidays and punters go to Southend!!

End of October already. Where did the year go. It's almost Guy Fawkes Night. I like Guy Fawkes night. Bonfires and fireworks and tomato soup and potatoes baked in the ashes. Nearly as much fun as Christmas. I'm English remember - don't do Thanksgiving here. Or Hallowe'en really. Though thanks to vast amounts of American TV some of the youngsters now do that awful begging routine known as trick-or-treat. Must remember to buy a water pistol... I'll give 'em trick all right!!
