Max is back!

So Max (my former dog) is now at our house. Mike and the boys are moving into an apartment in Seattle. He wanted to avoid the extra rent expense of a dog and asked if I thought we could take him. Since Joey passed on a while back we thought it was do-able. Beanie isn't a big dog fan by any means but we're hopeful they'll adjust.

Actually Max has been living with cats for the last two years. He doesn't go after them in an attack manner...he just wants a good sniff. Beanie isn't up for that right now of course. His experience with dogs at his former home (E's ex) wasn't a good one.

Right now we've got pet gates (with kitty pass through doors) on our bedroom and the computer room. Even though Max is getting on in dog years (11 or so) he was still able to launch right over that damn gate. We raised the gate a bit off the floor and that allowed him to waltz through the kitty pass through. *sigh* Moved the gate back down and now we're waiting to see if he can still get through the kitty door. I say 'no' because he would have to crouch and scoot. E thinks 'yes'. We'll see.

Anyway...this was exactly why Spring break week was perfect for this getting to know you period. Someone will be home to supervise and get both pets adjusted to the new reality.

I'm damn excited to have him back. I know little e is also looking forward to having Max at our house. Now if we can just get Beanie to tolerate his presence and realize Max isn't going to eat him.
