Hey everyone!
As some of you may have already heard from our Best of 2013 podcast, it’s time for the 2014 Cocktail Hour Bearded Clam Challenge. This will be our third BCC and we’re looking forward to it being the best yet. The rules are simple: Write an original story between 10k – 30k words that contains the phrases “Cocktail Hour” and “Bearded Clam” in any context, have it edited, and submit it no later than July 15, 2014. Pretty straightforward, right?
All entries are rated by a team of judges and will then be compiled into an ebook and made available for download on our website. Authors retain all rights to their stories, of course. Big congratulations to Susan X. Meagher for taking first place last year!
We work very hard to make sure the BCC is as fair as possible. All identifying information is removed from the entries and sent, along with a standard judging form, to the team. The judges are never identified and no one – including the other judges – beside me and Andy know the identity of the team. Once judging is completed, I average the scores and the rankings will be announced on a special Cocktail Hour show – and there will be prizes!

Please, help us reach as many authors as possible by sharing this information. And encourage your favorite authors to join in on the fun!
