Request from Linda

Linda, frequent UE rambler and all around nice gal, has a request from her niece.
I have a request to make. My niece Victoria's class has started
studying geography this week. To get the kids really involved in it, the teacher has made a game and contest out of it.

They have to gather items with the name of a city, state or country on it. This contest will last until the end of the school year in May. The items can be postcards, key chains, magnets, travel posters or just about anything that has the name of a city, state or country on it.

Each child gets a travel log book to list each item and the mileage from Tucson to the city, state or country the item is from. They also have to find the city on the map. Parents are forbidden to tell the child where to find it beforehand.

The contest is called "How far can you go?" There will be 3 winners of the contest ...1) the most items collected...2) the longest mileage of one item...3) The highest mileages totaled of all items. The prizes are for 1 is a globe of the world. For 2. A coloring book of the United States. The grand prize for the total of mileages is a beautiful bound edition of the world atlas.

Victoria has asked me if I would ask all of you, if you would please send her a postcard, key chain, magnet, travel poster or just about anything that has the name of a city, state or country on it. If you wish to do so, please e-mail me privately and I will send you Victoria's address.

Thank you,
Linda

I picked up my postcard today. If she gets enough postcards this could be the start of a really cool postcard collection for Victoria.
