Wind and Football

There was some excitement here last night thanks to a windstorm that swept in around midnight. Both of us were woken up by multiple worrisome clunks on the roof. I could actually hear the wind howl and the trees were swaying enough that we thought one might topple over on to a house.

E ended up moving to the couch. I stayed in the nice warm bed. I told her that if I was squashed by a tree falling on our bedroom to remember that I loved her. She ended up coming back to our (thankfully) unsquashed bed around 3.

This afternoon I got up on the roof and found a few branches. One was a decent size but not big enough to damage anything. Now our roof is cleared of limbs and the yard waste bin is full.

Not suprisingly the wind knocked out power all over the area. Comcast cable/internet is likewise down all over. Not such a good thing for this town considering the Seahawks played the Green Bay Packers today. Around 11am we even saw a neighbor toting his television set to his car. Likely heading to another location with cable.

We don't have internet thanks to the Comcast outage (this update is coming to you thanks to E's cellphone operating as a wireless hotspot). We probably could have watched the game using our handy antenna to bring in the local channels. Instead we decided to go to Costco thinking it might be a little deserted with folks staying in to watch the game. We were right...the crowds were less than Costco-sized.

Once we got home the game was in full swing. Twitter caught us up on the sportsball competition. We took Max to the dog park and knew the minute the Seahawks clinched the win. You could hear fireworks going off everywhere and a local sports bar near the dog park sent up lots of whoopin' and hollerin'.

In two weeks Cal and I will be overwhelmed by kids and adults wearing their Seahawks gear to school. Guess I need to break down and get Cal a Seahawks t-shirt so he can join in the fun. There are bound to be oodles of group pictures and videos at his school just like last year when they went to the Super Bowl.
