Liz Woz 'Ere

City centre was closed off today. Buses re-routed. Helicopters patrolling overhead. The area around Police HQ at one of the routes in to the city was also sealed off. And so was the area around the university.

Her Maj was in town. With her hubby.

To be precise, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her consort, His Royal Highness Prince Philip. (Though I prefer his pidgin title - Man-him-belonga-Mrs-Queen).

She came to visit the newly rebuilt Princesshay. Which is Princesshay because she opened the original shopping centre there when she was still Princess Elizabeth. It was part of the re-building of the city after the Baedecker raids.

After that bit of the visit was done she tootled off to the Uni to open the new Forum, and grab a bite to eat.

It's the third time she's been here while I've lived in the area. And every time it's been great for all those people who love her and want to see her and a right PITA for those of us who want to go about our business without massive disruption and inconvenience.

No, I didn't go and try to see her. I just tried to get to-and-from work. I might have made the effort if it had been Annie. I've got a lot of time for Annie. She's a hard worker and she has an evil sense of humour. (Yes, I have seen her and spoken to her.) Oh yeah, Annie. Her Royal Highness Anne, The Princess Royal. Good sort. Lot more sense than any of her brothers. Shame she couldn't be queen.

Well, fair bit for you to read tonight. So I'll bid you farewell. See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Ze
