Dear Weather/Mother Nature

It's not Autumn yet damnit!! Please stop the mists and mellow fruitfulness stuff. Please also stop the raining, gale-force winds, and cold. Could we please have one of those bursts of late-summer sunshine which September is usually famous for?? It's like November out there and it's no fun. It makes it very difficult to work.

And especially could you please stop the sudden over-abundance of large, stripy, spiders, and their webs stretching across every conceivable gap between two grass-stalks?? It's making it impossible for me to walk from one side of the site to the other without looking like an advert for the Ministry of Silly Walks. Or a drunk on a dance-floor trying to do Y.M.C.A. while everybody else is doing The Time-Warp.

I hope everybody in Texas stays safe. And anywhere else where flood, rain, wind, fire (or for that matter the evil actions of humanity) are threatening life and livelihood.
