Enough is Enough

I was going to regale you with the tale of me and the unfortunate incident of the hanging baskets and why I'm daily expecting a call from The Royal Society for the Protection of Violas... but it didn't seem appropriate this week. In a week where at least five (probably more) young lives were taken simply because they were (or were thought to be) GLBT.

It's incredible that here, now, in the 21st century, people are still so ignorant, so bigoted, so hateful, so despicable, so unworthy of the label "human being" that they bully, harass and ridicule other people to such an extent, to this level of despair, that they drive them to take their own lives.

And to all those hate-filled bigots who use (what they call Christian) religion to justify their bigotry - sit down and STFU. What would Jesus do?? He kick your bloody arses, that's what he'd do. You might want to re-acquaint yourselves with the bits about Pharisees, and folk who make a big show of praying, and check out the kind of folk he hung around with. Oh and have a re-read of the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25 verses 34 to 40.

If any of our readers are in this situation, where you're being bullied, harassed, feeling despair - there is help. Check out some of these links.

The Trevor Project

It Gets Better

Ellen Show - I Can't Be Silent

Celebrities speak out Larry King Show

For schools, parents, allies who want to help - Safe Space Kit

And if you're British rather than American. Queer Youth Network and Anti-Bullying Network.

I don't have any links for resources for other countries but if any of you out there do know of some and would like me to list them tomorrow - drop me a line.
