Good grief...

...tonight is huge. Not only do you have many Halloween themed Passion & Perfection stories but the Academy posted their Halloween Invitational entries. Y'all enjoy reading while I'm trying to keep warm walking the neighborhood with the kids. Brrrrr.

p.s. Don't forget to send us those cookie recipes.

Fall Is Here

Got home from work today and raked the yard. Only about a third of the leaves have fallen, so many more on the way. Hence my six bags will continue to grow. However, I feel pretty good getting this much done early. Usually I wait until I'm knee deep in leaves (which my daughter loves) and then it takes me an entire weekend to clear them away. Perhaps this year I can try and keep up with fall. Doubtful, but one can try.

Now on another note...thank you so much for the two folks who have stepped up and sent me recipes. I promise to post them for everyone. I'm hoping I can get a few more out of the rest of you...please send me your favorite cookie recipes. I'd love to have enough recipes to post one every other night in November, so move along quickly and share!

Enjoy your updates!

Looking For Cookies...

Actually I am looking for cookie recipes. Got any that you you love (or not) and are willing to share? Seems the time to bake is just around the corner and I personally make many varieties during the seasonal crunch. However it would be splendid this year to get some new and different recipes to test out. Consider sharing your classics or not so classic recipes with us all.

Thanks and enjoy your updates!

Home Once Again

My flight was uneventful and I made it to OKC by 9:30 pm. This morning mom and I went to the annual Affair of the Heart craft show. It was made extra special because Duncan and Cal went with us. I was wishing I'd left them at home by the end of it. Crowds and corralling two kids isn't fun. At least I got mom through all the buildings.

Today I haven't done much beyond that. Still need to unpack. My house is a wreck. I see a full week ahead for me.

I Miss Her Already

Vacation is Over. Tamara is on her way home. I must now do bills, chores and go grocery shopping. Time to get myself prepared to be back in the routine. I hate that. I am hoping Lotto comes through soon.

Announcement Night

More nifty news to share!
Hi Y'all...this is the last few days to get in on the Academy's Raffle (ends 10/31). We have a ton of cool items including some extremely rare (signed) OOP books. Check out:
www.academyofbards.org/rafflelist.html for info on how to participate and see a list of the prizes that will be mixed up and put into random boxes.

We have some celebrity signed items as well. AND if that wasn't enough, SX Meagher and Nene Adams are raffling off the chance to be/name a character in one of their future novels. Whoa. How cool is that?

The proceeds will go to Michelle DeLaRosa's family to help defray medical bills. Michelle was a huge part of the XenaVerse and a beloved Munchkin of the Academy.

Thank you,
OZ

Thanks, OZ, sounds like some splendid stuff is available! So, folks, jump on over to the Academy and check it out! Remember it's for a really good cause.

Now off to your updates, enjoy 'em.

More Lazy Vacation

After two days of warmth and sun Seattle is back to rainy and gray. Tomorrow E is off work once again. I'm trying to convince her to make a drop off at Value Village tomorrow morning. We hit Goodwill with a few of her clothes she no longer wears but a few more bags need to get out the door. I'm such a slavedriver. On the plus side, her closet is no longer crammed full.

Tonight will be filled with pumpkin carving and The Archies on DVD.

Sunday

Movie day with Okie. We went and saw 30 Days of Night. I am by no means a horror film critic, but this one scared the shit out of me. It was definitely not my usual chick flick type film but nonetheless enjoyable. Gore beyond gore. Good plot points and twists. The expected and unexpected and all well done in my opinion.

Now off to your updates. Enjoy.

Pumpkin Patch Day

I'm pooped after having spent a chilly day at The Farm. I was wishing I had Cal with me today because he would have gone wild at this place. It was definitely a heaven for kids. E's little one had a heckuva fun time and three very large pumpkins are now on the front porch. I think I'll even get to carve one before I head back to OKC.

Rain, Wind and Fun

Our storm last night allowed us to skip swim lessons for my daughter. Hard to swim with no lights on at the pool, but today was much calmer. Took some time this morning to clear out the gutters and remove the leaves from my roof. Then we baked some nifty cookies.

A splendid day all around. Hope you all had a good one and, if not, may the weekend bring some fun your way.

Enjoy the updates.

Early

Early update today due to a storm hitting the Seattle area this afternoon. High winds and rain may cause power outages here in the convergence zone and E is a better safe than sorry kinda gal. If we lose power I reckon I can veg by lamplight quite easily.

Accomplishments

Vacation has a way of feeling like things are getting done. I actually planted over 200 bulbs in my yard over the last couple of days. And today Tamara and I applied for our passports. Hence we are looking forward to actually being able to visit Vancouver, Canada on her next trip. This also gives us room to visit buddies on the other side of the big pond.

And to end our lovely day we checked out one of Tamara's favorite comic book stores. Comics Dungeon. It's on 45th Street in Seattle and they have plenty of back issues with a few less now. She limited herself, but this always allows more for later I figure.

Now we'll have a nifty evening of tacos in front of splendid warm fire with a storm brewing outside.

Enjoy your updates!

Lazy Days

E and I are having an incredibly lazy time in her neck o' the woods. The weather is colder than Oklahoma so I've been treated to warmth from the fireplace and my long-sleeved shirts are getting worn once again. I'm looking forward to more days with nothing more pressing than deciding what to eat for lunch. Y'all enjoy the updates.

Recipe Night

Yeah, Carol stepped up to the plate to share a recipe with us...it's truly appreciated!
Tang Pie

1 pre made graham cracker crust pie shell
1/2 cup Tang
8 oz Sour Cream
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 container of Cool Whip

Directions:

Mix sour cream, milk and Tang(all but a teaspoon) until well mixed. Add 1/2 of the cool whip into the tang mixture (more or less for sweeter or tangier filling). When cool whip is well mixed the filling will be pale orange in color. Pour filling into pie shell. Cover filling with remainder of cool whip to create a "meringue" like filling topping. Sprinkle remainder of tang on top of pie and refrigerate for 1 hour to overnight. Slice and Serve. Will taste similar to a creamsicile.

Note: If you are making more than one make each separately Do Not Double, Otherwise all pies will not taste the same. I've served this several times and each time I have to give out the recipe. I've considered trying different drink mixes e.g. lemonade (for a lemon meringue) or Cherry (for a cherry pie) but have not had a chance.

I hope you will make this and enjoy it and it's really quite fun to watch people's faces when you tell them it's made with Tang.

Enjoy,

Carol

Thanks again, Carol! Now enjoy those updates!

Still messing with the RSS feed. Got any suggestions or ideas, please holler. Tamara and I are truly not familiar with these at all. We'll continue to work and test it, but I suggest not subscribing to it just yet. We may even change the link, so please hold off.

RSS Feed

For those of you who signed up for the RSS feed for this site through feedburner, go ahead and unsubscribe. We jumped the gun a wee bit on that because the darn thing isn't working. We're going to try a different RSS delivery system and won't let y'all know about it until we've made sure it works. If anyone out there has installed a feed on their blog or site and would like to give us some pointers, we'll sure take 'em.

Fall

It's clearly here in Seattle. The leaves with some color are starting to fall and the wet, dark and gloomy days are here. I love these days and somehow others seem not to appreciate the greatness of each of them.

One notice...a very nice email from Lynn suggested we put in a RSS feed. Hence on the right below our yahoo group link is a new RSS feed link. Any problems with it, please holler.

Enjoy your updates!

Roughing It

3:30 and I'm ready for a nap. Last night I slept in our new tent with the kids. We set it up in the backyard where the pool used to be. Ran an extension cord into the tent and plugged in two laptops and a DVD player. Now that's my version of roughing it. I managed to sleep okay. Not great but okay. Two sleeping bags and four comforters made the ground a little softer. Max also slept with us. Tonight it's Mike's turn. I get the soft bed. Yippee!

My Lunch with Andi

Today I had the pleasure of meeting up-and-coming writer Andi Marquette. It's not often people come to Oklahoma so when she emailed me and said she'd be in Oklahoma City in October and asked if I'd be willing to meet up with her I said sure. I loved the sense of humor that came through in her emails and in her stories and figured even with my introvert tendencies we'd get along all right. I wasn't wrong. Andi is even better in person. We ate lunch at a restaurant that overlooks Redhawks Stadium and then walked around the Bricktown area a bit. She even allowed me to drag her to my house so I could have a pee break. Come to visit me and you get red carpet treatment all right.

She was also nice enough not to get too freaked out by my driving in unfamiliar downtown even when I ran a tiny red light. At least I'm up front with passengers that I have absolutely no sense of direction even in my own city. I've lived here most of my life and I still mapquested directions to her hotel. Yes, I'm that sad.

Andi will soon have two books released by Regal Crest and a short story of hers ("From the Boots Up") will appear in the Torquere Press anthology Under This Cowgirl's Hat, scheduled to be released this month. All you have to do is read Andi's online stories (here or here) to see that her books will be worth purchasing.

If you ever get the chance to meet Andi in person at a convention (GCLS in August anyone?) or at a book signing, do so. You won't be disapointed.

Timing Is Everything

Wednesdays are my daughter's swim lesson evenings, hence bringing my mp3 player and a good book is suggested. Unfortunately last night I finished the Esposito book (it was excellent), so at work today I was kinda bummed thinking loud music only tonight. But happily for me it was a mail day. In my box was a splendid gift from Phair aka Marguerite Mullaney. Aethereal Sea awaits my reading pleasure! Thanks, Phair, I'll let you know what I think.

Now to the rest of you enjoy your updates!
