Holiday Chores

The first day of Winter break and I have successfully wrapped all of the Christmas gifts.

What's on tomorrow's agenda? The house is in dire need of a major tidy before Christmas.

I'll let you get to reading.

Hype!

Hi!

Happy Holidays! But even more, I hope you will enjoy a happy and rewarding new year.

Bedazzled Ink Publishing has had a very interesting 2015. Even though this is the season for long, glowing end of year letters to friends and family, I’ll spare you one and just direct you to our blog link. Winking smile binkbooks.bedazzledink.com/blog/

One of the things we’re very excited about is launching our new imprint. This is an excerpt from our Editor, CA Casey’s blog.

“Since Bedazzled Ink’s namesake, a horse named Infinitely Bedazzled, gave birth to Dazz’s Lil’ Gossip (GusGus) this year, I decided it only fitting to name a press devoted to small literary forms after Dazz’s offspring. GusGus Press will be the home of Bedazzled Ink’s books of poetry, anthologies, and short works of fiction and nonfiction prose. We’re excited to see where this little press takes us as we continue to grow and change as a publisher.” binkbooks.bedazzledink.com/blog/introducing-gusgus-press/

And to add to that news, are two GusGus books by Kat Simpson. [The Devil Series] If you’ve ever been to a Xena convention, you’ll feel right at home with this one.

K. Simpson returns with another funny irreverent story that pokes fun at the obsessive world of online games. Morbida’s Game turns the world’s most popular online game on its ear when one of the online characters figures out how to escape the confines of of cyberspace and wreaks her own special kind of havoc on programmers and avid fans of the game. binkbooks.bedazzledink.com/books/books-m/morbidas-game/

She also penned a short story collection with a quick nod to the Twilight Zone. K. Simpson is back with dry humor and a penchant for the macabre in a collection of ghastly and quirky tales in Late Show & Then Some.

Thanks for all your support this year. We hope you will enjoy our new crop of books for 2016.

Wow, lots for everyone to enjoy! And Claudia thanks for coming by and Happy Holidays to you as well!

Saturday Slugdom

We didn't do much today. Made a short trip to pick up my comics. Visited my favorite art supply store and found a few more stocking stuffers. Max got a nice walk to Twin Ponds Park. I made some banana bread.

Other than those few things the rest of our Saturday has been spent being slugs. More of the same tomorrow I hope.

Waiting for the Force

We have tickets for next Tuesday.

For the new Star Wars film.

I am so looking forward to this.

Lord, I hope it isn't a disappointment. You never can tell with Abrams as director. I didn't like what he did with Star Trek. Especially the second one. It was a fine action sci-fi film but it wasn't Roddenberry's vision.

The critics who've seen previews of The Force Awakens have loved it. But I don't always agree with the critics.

Saw Mockingjay Part 2 last week and thought it was great. It didn't quite follow the book, mind you, but then I guess it couldn't really. Too much to fit in and a need to keep the action going and all that.

Saw the latest Bond film Spectre a couple of weeks ago. Not bad. I like Craig as Bond. He seems to have moved closer to the Bond of the early books.

Well, that's me done for another week. See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you

I'm Dreaming of a Wet Christmas

Because I'm certainly not expecting a white one.

We've had so much rain in the last couple of months it's ridiculous. It's nowhere near as bad down here in the south-west as is was last year. Or as bad as the north-west (of England) had it just recently. But the ground is waterlogged and the rain that continues to fall just sits on the top.

Totally ridiculous temperatures too. The overnight temps are around 14 to 15 Celcius.

Overnight. In December. Ridiculous.

LiveJournal pretty much died as far as fanfic communities go - though one or two still update - so it's mildly surprising to find a new community dedicated to writing. It's for original work not fanfic but if you fancy a look it's here - Words in the Brain

Sunday

Today was a rainy, cool day filled with chores. I got the first batch of Christmas cookies done. Tamara and I did the usual weekend purchases as well.

This evening we did get some change. A friend Tamara works with brought over their cat to our house as their landlord will not let them have him. Daryl is a fairly good sized white and black kitty is currently hanging out in our daughter's room while he adjusts. I am not sure what we are going to do with him as we do not need another cat and I am not sure our current neurotic indoor cat will adjust well.

Anyone in Seattle area and looking to add a nice kitty to their life, let us know. Daryl is a very nice kitty.

Back to the work week. Also another reminder we will be ending our updates as of 12/31/15. Tamara and I will try and get some good instructions on how to use RSS feeds for you stay up to date with your favorite sites. And we're researching Tumblr as well.

Peace, Health and Happiness.

Stupidity

When you're directionally challenged you should never try and find the exit in a strange school that leads to the parking lot where your car is. You should instead walk out the front door where you entered and go all the way around the school back to the parking lot. Especially don't do this on a Saturday when the only people at the school are participants of the seminar you just attended.

If you choose the first one to avoid the walk in the drenching rain you may just go out the wrong door, get locked out of the school and become trapped outside. Due to school safety issues, a school that was designed with many exits leading outside is enclosed by a six foot tall fence. Since it's Saturday all of the gates that might be open are padlocked.

You just might have to climb said six foot tall fence...twice. The first time you might spot a corner and think that it's leading you to freedom only to discover you just jumped into another enclosed section of the school grounds. This will lead you to climb the six fucking foot tall fence again to finally get out at the front of the school. Right next to the door where you entered. The door you should have exited instead of trying to avoid the rain.

I'm home now, very tired and a bit sore. I punctured a hole in my hand while climbing the fence (not sure which time it was) and my butt is a little bruised because I fell getting down from the first fence climb. Luckily the ground was soft...and wet...and muddy.

Weekend Ahead

Lots of chores for me this weekend. Plus I need to get some lights up outside for that holiday spirit. Tamara is off to more professional development tomorrow. I know she is not looking forward to getting up early on a Saturday.

Hopefully the rest of the weekend can be slack. Tired tonight. Have a great weekend.

Peace, Health and Happiness.

They Dined on Mince and Slices of Quince

Feeling a little bleugh tonight. I may or may not have over-indulged in mince-pies.

Well - it is December. Almost Christmas. And I love mince-pies.

I'm an old-fashioned, tradition-is-important, sort of cove. I only eat mince-pies in December. I only eat hot-cross-buns at Easter. I only eat crumpets in winter. I only eat strawberries and cherries when it's summer. I know these things are available all-year-round these days, but I think it spoils the specialness if you eat them at any old time of the year. It's important to keep the specialness.

So I may have let my excitement at Christmas (yay!!) and mince-pies (double yay!!) get slightly out of hand. I might just have eaten one or two too many. OK - maybe three too many. I meant to eat two, with a cup of coffee, after my tea. But there are six in a box...

So now I feel a bit bleugh.

(Bleugh = technical description for that slight feeling of nausea after having over-indulged in rich food. Also known as "I was greedy and now I have indigestion".)

I'll make sure I only eat two tomorrow.

See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Thanks folks

Today is the feast of the Immaculate Conception - we wish all our Catholic readers a blessed feast day.

Hanukkah began at the start of this week - we wish all out Jewish readers a peaceful festival.

Next - thank you to everybody who's posted comments or sent email about the site. You are all so very kind. It's been fun - and a privilege - to do these updates and ramble on about daily life.

E or T will post details about setting up RSS feeds from those sites which do still update. And before we go I'll post links to some of the sites I check so that you can check them if you choose.

And as E said - although we'll no longer be updating and the main site will close - the blog will remain on blogger for you to check back over the years. And as she also mentioned - I might just drop in on the blog now and again to let you all know how my little ferret pals are doing.
