Until next year, ECCC....

The Emerald City Comicon is over for this year. It was a lot of fun but I'm pooped. Have at it.

Slow Day

Easy day filled with some chores and some Facebook and a few calls from Tamara. I still have some folding to do before I go pick her up, but other than that and easy day. Tomorrow all the kids and I will join Tamara at the con. Ear plugs are in order for me.

Enjoy your updates!

Peace, Health and Happiness.

Home Alone

This usually means my best friend is busy. Tonight is no exception. I am home alone (with a few furry beasts), kids off at other families places and Okie is off geeking out over comics.

The weekend will be chore filled for me with lots of quiet time in between. I can be found on Facebook.

Enjoy your updates. See ya tomorrow night.

Peace, Health and Happiness.

Comics, here I come....

I'm doing the words tonight because E is going to get stuck with them tomorrow and Saturday. I'll be geeking out on comics at the Emerald City Comicon this weekend.

Our first week in the new school space has gone remarkably well. It took them about a day to adjust the heating...it was darn cold on Monday. Our ancient dishwasher is supposedly fixed now. I think I'll still stick with hand washing.

The kids haven't had any issues beyond the normal stuff. Tomorrow we do our first Friday movie day in the new space. Keep your fingers crossed that the technology gods don't throw us any monkey wrenches.

And now I'll let you get to reading.

Still grumpy

And now with added "ow".

Stabbed myself on a hawthorn thorn today. It got me in the wrist, between work-glove top and donkey-jacket sleeve. Now my wrist is swollen and I can't bend it. Bloody tree.

In fact, bloody trees. Damn' things have got it in for me lately. What did I ever do to them?? Last week the holly, this week the hawthorn. What next?? A triffid??

All I was doing was giving them a haircut. You'd think they'd be grateful for the trim, tidy up, care and attention, etc. But no, they're deeply ungrateful and out to do me grievous bodily harm!!

Ah well, at least the hawthorn didn't throw me into the garden pond like the holly did.

Not much to read tonight I'm afraid. But at least you've had plenty of links for the last couple of days. That should keep you busy.

See you next week, stay safe. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Grumpy

It's St David's Day. So for all our Welsh readers, Dydd Dewi Sant Hapus.

(And if that doesn't mean Happy St David's Day - blame Google translate).

There a Multifandom fic auction on Live Journal - to raise funds for victims of the Christchurch Earthquake

Other than that, I'm tired, can't think of anything to say. And I'm very, very grumpy. In fact I'm so grumpy I nearly didn't list a couple of these updates tonight because the authors had posted the titles without capital letters. And that is grumpy. Because, while I'm a complete grammar tyrant and the improper capitalising of titles does irritate me, it doesn't usually enrage me to that extent. Not the way greengrocers' apostrophes or the use of scare quotes can.

And thanks E. Yeah. Maybe next year. At least we're still in with a (slim) chance of The Champions League title. Even though we lost the League Cup Final to Birmingham!!

And my knee hurts, my shoulder hurts, my ankle hurts. (The weather turned cold again - and guess which numpty forgot to book a repeat prescription of pain killers from the doctor, and so doesn't have any codeine in the house. And can't get any until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. No prizes.)

Monday, Monday

Back to work for both of us today and things went pretty well for a Monday. E wasn't overwhelmed with everything that had to sit for a week. On my end, the kids at the school. adjusted remarkably well to the new space. Better than I did as a matter of fact.

It's very frustrating not knowing where things are. And the heat in the new space is practically non-existent. My student usually ends up in his t-shirt midway through the morning. He did that today and then later asked for his sweater back. Then he went looking for his coat. Think it was a bit chilly?

Nice update for y'all. Have at it.

And Ze, there's always next year mate.

Saturday Night

My mother goes home tomorrow and vacation officially ends for us Monday. I also go back to school and a brand new space. It should make for an interesting week as all of us get used to where things are.

Now...I'll let you get to it.

Weekend Yet?

Vacation extends a couple more days. Lots of laundry today and few more chores over the next couple days as we ease back into the routine. Splendid.

Here is hoping you are all doing great!

Peace, Health and Happiness.

Home

We're home and I'm very glad about that. We ran into some snow on the trip back. Although we saw a few accidents on the way, we didn't get caught in one thank goodness.

Tonight sleep in my own bed and tomorrow to work for a few hours to set up the new school space. Of course, since it's snowing outside tomorrow depends on how much snow accumulates and how the roads look in the morning. It's not that I can't walk to work but the folks who have keys to the new space may be stranded elsewhere.

Now get to it. I'm off to eat dinner.

Wednesday's Child is Full of Woe.

Had a humorous battle with a holly bush today. The bush won. I was going to tell you all about it but I watched the news again tonight and there's just too much tragedy right now for that kind of silliness.

I watched a report about the Christchurch earthquake. There are still 300 people unaccounted for. Probably dead. There were a couple of teenagers, boy 15 & his 19 year old sister, waiting outside a collapsed office block, praying their Mam was ok, saying how much of a fighter she was, that she'd never give up. And a police officer came up to give them the bad news that there was nobody left alive inside. My heart broke for those poor kids. And for the young man, trapped under rubble, a doctor gave him the strongest painkiller he had available and then a fire-fighter called for a hacksaw. The only way to get him free was cut his leg off.

If you can't get though on the NZ Red Cross page and you'd like to donate I expect your local Red Cross/Red Crescent is taking donations. Or here in the UK the Disasters Emergency Committee is handling it.

Then there was a report from Libya. Gaddafi - mad as a box of frogs - is making war on his own people. There were scenes of the wounded in hospital, and of the dead. Hundreds - possibly thousands dead.

And my scratches and small puncture wounds didn't seem worthy of the telling. So maybe next week.

Until then, stay safe, goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Another Earthquake in NZ

First - our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Christchurch, New Zealand. I hope any readers/writers and their families we have there are safe.

Hope the Xenaverse actors are safe, too.

Next - Bard in need - Writer G L Dart needs a hand. Or just a kind word telling her how much you appreciate her writing. (Read both messages). Novel Expectations her website - some cracking stories on there (for those who've never seen it), or you could buy one of her novels.

And now a short message from docwho2100

    Hello :)

I sent in an announcement a bit ago about tellofilmsand a new series from Nancylee Myatt called Cowgirl Up. Well Ms. Myatt has done something awesome or wary depending on your view - but she is reaching out to fans and fanfic writers.

While this is about a webseries called Cowgirl up, it has a place to be discussed/listed here. Ms. Nancylee Myatt (writer/director/producer/creator of many shows including Nikki and Nora, 3Way and Cowgirl Up) created a fanfic character Bible for Cowgirl Up and released it for fans. It has character backgrounds, plot ideas and even writing tips from Ms. Myatt - she is encouraging it to be passed around and shared - so I loaded it up at Slideshare here

There is also a copy at a fan site for Cowgirlup enjoy and share! docwho2100

Stay safe folks

Day 2 at the beach

We have been having fun and getting lucky. The rain has held off for us to be able to check out Fort Clatsop and the Seaside Turnaround. Tomorrow we head to Astoria to check out the Maritime museum and a few other places, hopefully all as nifty as what we saw today.

Here is hoping y'all are doing well. We will chat back at you on Thursday after we get home!

Peace, Health and Happiness.
