Nowt

Yet another night when I can't think of a blessed thing to say...

Weather turned nippy again.

Football - breaks your bloody heart it does.

Stitches come out tomorrow evening. Yeay!! They've reached that feeling-tight-and-want-them-gone stage.

That's it. Stumped.

See you next week. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

Hopeless

That's me. Well - accident prone, anyway. Or a walking disaster just looking for a place to happen. (This one's not funny folks just painful.)

At work last Thursday we started setting some bamboo canes (used for marking). They supposed to be new for every new job. Sometimes cheapskate companies (or site supervisors on the fiddle) try and get away with using old ones. Usually you can spot these (they're grubby) but not always. I got an old one on Thursday. In fact I got one that was rotten right through (but didn't look it). As I leaned forward to push it into the ground it shattered. Off balance I fell forward. Right onto the end of the cane, which shattered some more. I was just damn' glad I had safety glasses on.

Bamboo is bloody sharp. It sliced a nice deep (and at an angle) gouge across my chin right up to my lip. And a shorter one (about half the size) parallel to it. It also slashed my cheek and left several large pieces embedded in it. I whipped those out immediately. Unfortunately I couldn't get all the tiny bits out of the main wound. It was bleeding too much. Boy was it bleeding!!

I went into the portakabin and I looked in the mirror and said, "Damn!! That's going to need stitches." I got as much dirt out of it as I could and said to the foreman, "I think I need to sign-out for the day. If I'm quick I can catch the next bus to town."

He said several rude words and informed me in no uncertain terms that I wasn't getting the bus, was I stupid or something, he would drive me. I was glad of that. Ten minutes in the car, thirty-five on the bus to the hospital, and as I'd already soaked through three paper towels... well... you can see the headlines Painter bleeds to death on the number H2 bus. Not good.

So I wound up in A&E again. I was lucky. There were only three other people in the department and none were as injured as I was so the triage nurse scheduled me to be seen first. A nice young man (he looked way too young to be a qualified doctor!!) called me into the cubicle and informed me he was the registrar. He looked at my chin and confirmed my guess - it needed stitches. The cheek wound was small and just needed cleaning but the parallel slices needed work. A quick jab with a needle full of something cold which stung and then he washed the wounds. Once he was sure it was clean he stitched it. Seven stitches in the main wound, two in the shorter one. Then he gave me some cream which he said would help prevent serious scarring. It will scar, there's no hope of it not, but there's a chance I can minimise it. "Keep it clean and dry" he said. How?? I thought.

Friday I couldn't go to work.

I also found that I couldn't eat. Hell, I couldn't even clean my teeth!! The swelling was so bad. By Saturday evening I could (carefully) clean my teeth (thank God!!) but I still couldn't chew. I love tomato soup, really I do, but by Sunday night I was sick of the sight of it.

The swelling has all gone now and this evening I got to eat a real dinner. With potatoes and carrots and spinach and I've never enjoyed a meal more!! (Ok - hyperbole there, I admit, but it was good.)

I get the stitches out on Thursday. I can't wait.

Another Week, Another Monday

Monday once again but with a difference. This will be the last full week for me and the kids before Spring break. Yippee! E is very jealous.

I think I've finally kicked the spring forward butt drags. It's very sad that it takes me a good two weeks to get my body clock adjusted to the time change. Here's to not feeling completely pooped after work every day.
You have a lot to read tonight. Have at it!

An End of a Weekend

Somehow the weekend has already gone by and work awaits us in the morning. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and it went by way too fast.

One more open house has been completed. I'm ready to be a slug with both me and the house again. I really look forward to having some finale to this for sale concept. Having boxed a bunch of stuff up is bad for me and if I were Tamara it would be worse. At least I have 80% of my stuff here and un-boxed, where as she has 90% or more boxed up...that would really really suck.

Well, on that note, I leave you to your update. Peace, Health and Happiness.

Busy Day

The day has flown. I picked up my two weeks worth of comics. I spent a good chunk of time updating my checkbook. Went to lunch with the family.

I also spent some time tidying. Tomorrow we have an Open House so I still have a few areas that need attention. The big one would be the area next to my bed that's been taken over by comic book piles. I bought a bunch of issues at the Emerald City Comicon and I still haven't been able to play with them (meaning put them in my database and read them). I was hoping to get to that today but it looks like I'll just have to hide them away for the Open House tomorrow and perhaps have fun with them during Spring break week.

Hopefully your weekend is going well. Enjoy the updates!

TGIF

A short week that felt really long. Hence, I'm very glad it's the weekend. Sadly we have an open house Sunday which means we'll be doing lots of chores tomorrow and then out we go on Sunday. Here's to hoping somebody makes an offer.

Peace, Health and Happiness. Enjoy your updates.

Cough, Cough.

No longer sneezing. But this cough is a real PITA. I couldn't paint a straight line today if my life depended on it; every time I moved, I coughed. Today has consisted of - cough, cough, whinge, whinge, cough, cough, whinge, whinge. Repeat ad infinitum. I am fed up with it. I hate getting sick, I don't mind injured (I'm used to that *g*) but I hate being sick. I also hate taking any kind of medication. Which is why I've had no paracetamol today and the minimum amount of cough syrup. Maybe I should have some.

Sorry folks, can't be amusing or entertaining tonight. I'll make it up to you as soon as this cold goes. I'm sure I can find something in my chequered past that will give you a laugh. Even if it's only my sole (disastrous) attempt to play hockey, (I was 12 and at school). Or the time I got stuck half-way down the zip wire ride. (I still can't work out how - what happened to gravity??)

Until next week - stay healthy. Goodnight and may your God/s go with you.

I Have a Cold

Consequently I'm feeling crappy. And grumpy. And extremely self-pitying. It's only a simple cold. Not 'flu' or anything like that. I'm sneezing fit to bust and coughing up a storm if I laugh or talk too fast. I'm running a (slight) temperature. What a strange expression that is. Running a temperature. Where is it running and why?? Can it run?? Does it have legs?? Even saying I have a temperature would be daft - because if I didn't have a temperature it would mean I wasn't alive. I'd be dead. Deceased. Expired. Gone to meet my maker. Bereft of life. Shuffled off my mortal coil. I'd be an ex-Ze.

Anyway...

I'm not well.

I am, however, not unwell enough to stay home. (Especially since I wouldn't get sick-pay). So I went to work today. (Which was where I got this damn' cold from in the first place). You do have to wonder about the sanity of a system that penalises you if you stay home but rewards you for going to work & ensuring that everybody else gets whatever it is you've got, don't you?? Generous soul that I am, I thought I'd share the germs around a bit more. I needn't have worried. I was working alone anyway. It was a beautiful spring day (eventually). I still felt crappy though.

I'm now dosed up with Benylin (I think you get that in other countries) and Paracetamol (acetaminophen). I'm safe to take both because the variety of Benylin I'm using doesn't contain acetaminophen. And I'm about to head to bed. Where I will continue to feel sorry for myself until I fall asleep. See you tomorrow. Enjoy your updates. Loads to read.

On Time

Perhaps being off and home all day was good for my mind. Sure felt like it. Mini vacation for me this week. Back to work on Thursday, but I'll enjoy each day until then.

Have a great week. Peace, Health and Happiness.

Egg Hunting Day

You're getting an earlier update today. Actually it's your second update of the day due to us forgetting to post Saturday's. Ah well...we're human.

Off to finish cooking dinner. Have fun reading!

My apologies.

Day Off

Today the kids and I didn't have to go to school (me for work and them for, well...school). I got to sleep in. My car tabs are due this month so I used today to have my vehicle's emissions tested. The big blue van passed and, after a visit to a local department of licensing, I now have my spiffy new sticker for the license plate. The kids and I had a lovely lunch at McDonald's (Cal loves the play place) and Duncan gave me a cool Mew for my Pokemon Soul Silver game. Way keen.

The rest of the day has been spent relaxing and doing not much of anything. I like these productive/lazy days off.

1st Quarter Gone By...

Where did those 3 months go? Anyone see them fly by? Okay, April is upon us. Spring (or in my city) is in full swing. Sunshine, rain, sunshine and then a bit more rain. Splendid weather for me.

Now back to your April 1st update...enjoy!

Peace, Health and Happiness.
